Ramsarup Group

Ramsarup group and athletics - the terms are now synonomous. Starting with the principal sponsorship of "World Run Day" in 2004, Ramsarup Group has travelled a long way to spread & popularise athletics at the grass root level, in West Bengal.

Every year apart from organising different athletic events in every corner of West Bengal, different schemes have been implemented so that the talented athletes can be spotted and groomed for the future.

Some of the schemes & programmes of Ramsarup Group are as follows :

RAMSARUP ATHLETE SEARCH PROGRAMME

World Run Day : Organised in the Month of November every year to spread conciousness among the common people to keep fit & healthy.
Ramsarup Scholarship : This scheme is for 7-10 athletes in the age group of 12 years to 16 years, every year.
Ramsarup Athlete Search Programme : This yearly event is for spotting young budding athletes for the Scholarship scheme.
Ramsarup Millenium Cross Country : This event is held at 7-10 places primarily in the districts of West Bengal alongwith Athletic Coaches Association of Bengal.
10 Days Residential Coaching Camp : This was held at SAI, Salt Lake, Kolkata NSES & ACAB, to asses the performance of the scholarship recipients and other budding athletes.
Ramsarup Trial Meet : This was held just before the National Championships was held at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata, in the month of August. The meet saw the participation of stalwarts like Soma Biswas, Sushmita Singha Ray, Rahamatulla & Tarit Sinha Roy, to name a few. The meet was inaugarated by Honb'le Minister of Sports, Govt. of West Bengal Shri Subhas Chakraborty.

The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Group Mr. Ashish Jhunjhunwala, also the Hon. President of athletic Coaches Association of Bengal, who are our partners, in all the athletic events, strongly believes that "Athletics is the mother of all sports and in order to become a developed nation, India needs its youth to be fit & healthy. Our group is working in a small way to achieve their goal.
